Description

Recognizes an outstanding residential neighbourhood that demonstrates thoughtful planning, quality implementation and a positive contribution to the people and community it serves.

The award recognizes the member responsible for bringing the neighbourhood to life through its design, execution, industry relationships and ongoing development.

The neighbourhood does not need to be fully built out. New, established and multi-phase neighbourhoods are eligible where meaningful development actuvity or progress occurred during the qualifying period.

Requirements

A neighbourhood overview of no more than 150 words identifying:

o The neighbourhood name and location.

o The member responsible for the development.

o The current stage or phase of development.

o The work completed during the qualifying period.

o The intended residents or housing needs addressed.

o Whether the neighbourhood is sufficiently occupied to participate in the Resident Experience survey.

One response to each juried criterion, with each response limited to 150 words. Entrants should use specific examples but are not required to provide a separate written narrative for every feature referenced.

One neighbourhood plan or site map in PDF format showing:

o The overall neighbourhood layout.

o The area or phases included in the entry.

o Key streets, pathways, amenities and public spaces.

An existing development, planning or marketing map may be used. A new plan does not need to be created specifically for the award.

Minimum of 10 high-quality, public-use photographs. Photographs should collectively show the neighbourhood at its current stage and may include:

o Representative streetscapes and housing types.

o Entrances, landscaping and neighbourhood identity.

o Parks, pathways, gathering spaces or amenities.

o Connections between different areas of the neighbourhood.

o Features completed during the qualifying period.

Optional supporting document of no more than three pages. Supporting documentation should only be included where it helps verify information in the submission and may include excerpts from architectural guidelines, phasing information, amenity plans or evidence of community benefits. A supporting document is not required.

Optional professionally produced promotional video of no more than two minutes. The video should provide a concise visual overview of the neighbourhood. It will be considered with the written responses, photographs and neighbourhood plan but will not be judged on production quality.

For sufficiently occupied neighbourhoods, the entrant must provide the neighbourhood name, eligible geographic boundaries and any information BILD requires to create the resident survey. BILD will administer the survey, verify eligible responses and calculate the Resident Experience score.
